Resin Injection Kits
Concrete foundation cracks are not something the average homeowner should do themselves. Surface treatments are like putting a bandage on a bullet wound, it can take care of a cosmetic problem temporarily, but the underlying problem is just going to get worse. A resin injection kit is usually the best method of repair and is something that needs to be done by a professional.
If a crack is non-structural, yet allowing water to enter, it can usually be sealed with a simple polyurethane filling the crack. However, if the cause of the crack is structural, it will most likely widen again causing the polyurethane seal to fail. Rhino Carbon Fiber Products’ Resin Injection Kits use an epoxy that bonds to the concrete, making the repair solid and secure. The epoxy fills in the crack and hardens, strengthening the wall and making it look as if the crack was never there to begin with. Some severe crack repair projects can use the resin injection kit in addition to carbon fiber staples to prevent the crack from growing or moving.
When cracks are caused by foundation settlement, you have a serious problem. It will take a combination of resin crack injection, carbon fiber staples, and underpinning to make your foundation stable and strong again. It is important that you have a foundation contractor come over to inspect the property to determine the cause of the cracks and to suggest the best solution.
